Pune witnessed intense rainfall on May 26, 2025, due to the early onset of the southwest monsoon, arriving nearly 10 days ahead of schedule. Baramati, Indapur, and Daund tehsils were particularly affected. A cloudburst in Baramati triggered a flood-like situation, prompting the deployment of NDRF teams for rescue efforts.
Infrastructural disruptions included the temporary closure of the Pune-Solapur highway due to inundation. Baramati recorded 194.8 mm of rain in three days, while Bhigwan in Indapur logged 136.4 mm. The breach of the Khadakwasla Left Canal further worsened flooding in several villages.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts continued rainfall in Pune until May 31 and has urged residents to remain cautious.
