On May 26, 2025, a heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded in Panchkula, Haryana, where seven members of a family from Dehradun were found dead inside a locked car in Sector 27. The deceased included 42-year-old Praveen Mittal, his wife, their three children, and his elderly parents.
Initial investigations suggest died by poisoning, with a two-page note citing extreme financial distress and debt. The family had earlier attended a spiritual event at Bageshwar Dham and parked their Hyundai Aura nearby, where they consumed poison.
A passerby noticed the unmoving car with a towel hanging from its door and alerted authorities. Despite swift response, all seven were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
