In a gruesome act of violence, a 35-year-old man named Channappa Hussainappa Narinal was brutally murdered inside a bakery in Tavaragera town of Karnataka’s Koppal district on May 31, 2025. The horrifying incident was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media, sparking public outrage and debates around public apathy and rising violence.
According to the footage, seven men armed with machetes and a wooden log chased Narinal into the bakery, cornered him, and hacked him to death in full public view. The bakery was open and operational, yet no one intervened to stop the attackers. Narinal’s desperate attempt to escape only ended in a brutal assault that lasted several seconds.

Police investigation suggests that the murder was the result of a longstanding property dispute. Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family, a case has been registered against ten individuals. So far, seven suspects — identified as Ravi, Pradeep, two individuals named Manjunath, Nagaraj, Gautam, and Pramod — have been arrested. A manhunt is underway to nab the remaining accused.

The disturbing video and the public’s passive response during the crime have raised serious questions about law and order, and civic responsibility.
