An IAS officer in Odisha has been arrested in a major corruption case that has shocked the administrative community. Dhiman Chakma, a 36-year-old officer from the 2021 batch, was caught red-handed by the Odisha Vigilance Department while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh from a local businessman. The incident took place in Kalahandi district, where Chakma was posted. Acting on specific intelligence, vigilance officials laid a trap and apprehended him during the transaction.

Following the arrest, a search operation was carried out at his official residence, leading to the recovery of an additional ₹47 lakh in unaccounted cash. The total seizure raised serious concerns about the extent of corruption, prompting the authorities to launch a detailed investigation into his financial dealings and possible involvement in other irregularities.

Chakma has been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and legal proceedings are currently underway. The Vigilance Department is also scrutinizing his past postings and any assets that may have been acquired through unlawful means.
