In a deeply tragic incident, 23-year-old model Anjali Alpesh Varmora was found dead in her residence in the Athwa area of Surat, Gujarat, late on June 7, 2025. Anjali, who had been pursuing a promising career in modeling, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan by her family after they returned home and found the door locked from the inside. The police were immediately alerted, and the body was sent for postmortem.

According to initial police reports, no signs of foul play were found, and the case is currently being treated as a suspected suicide. However, the police have registered an accidental death case and are continuing to investigate all angles. Anjali had recently tried contacting her fiancé, with whom her wedding had been postponed due to the passing of his mother. It is suspected that emotional stress stemming from personal issues could have played a role in the tragedy.

This devastating event has raised fresh concerns about the mental health pressures young people—especially those in demanding industries like fashion and entertainment—face today. The investigation remains ongoing.
